Day 70

21st February 2022

Early Surf

Sunrise

If you’re a surfer on the east coast of Australia, you see this a lot.

Not me, I never see it! 😆

I love my bed too much! 😴😴😴

When it’s Liam’s turn to home school, he wakes early and goes for a surf & is back in time for me to leave for work.

This morning he took this picture. Isn’t it beautiful?

Maths/English

Liam had a plan to take the kids to the beach with some families for bush craft, but first, we had to do some core learning.

First up was maths.

Here’s Linc in this picture revising long division with decimals.

Mila is learning to add and subtract numbers in her head by rounding off numbers and then adding or subtracting remainders.

She hated it at first. She was so angry! 😆 Now, she’s excellent at it and so proud of herself.

First we use the whiteboard, then we freestyle!

Beach Craft

After their core work they headed to the beach.

Mila made a necklace using raffia and wool. I’d love to take a picture to show you the finished product but Liam can’t find it. 😐

Afterwards they played at the beach and in the park.

Liam said the water was still, like a lake.

Linc said he went for a swim and it was beautiful.

We 💗 that the park is never crowded now that we’re home schoolers!!

So, that’s that.

Not too much else to say.

They didn’t really say much when I asked them about it, just that they had a nice day.

I think they’re tired. We might have a quiet day tomorrow. Plus, I think it’s going to rain.

Grey clouds feel comforting after lots of sun, don’t they? Like being wrapped up in a heavy blanket. I almost always put on a pot of soup.

Grey clouds bring the calm, and the still, and the slow.

We hardly ever stay home.

They’ll protest when I tell them we’re going to have a ‘home day’ but after they give in to the idea, they always settle in to craft or cooking and watch a movie, and they really love it.

And I suppose at some stage, I gotta tidy this house!
