Day 58
3rd February 2022
Turning Japanese!

This morning I was rudely awoke by a car alarm.😣
6.40am, before my own personal alarm.
Stolen sleep time! 😒
I dragged myself out of bed and wandered into the loungeroom to find Lincoln & Mila hard at work learning Japanese.

“Ichi, ni, san!” Mila called out.
“Mum, Inu means dog.” Linc said.
“Cool!” I replied.
Mila started making pancakes and Lincoln continued repeating Japanese words to me while I ate my Vegemite toast. (No frozen banana for my smoothie & no avocado. Boo!)
As I left for work, I kissed them good bye and called out, “sayonara!”
They gasped at my Japanese knowledge. 😉
“Mum, what does that mean?!” Linc said, impressed.
Geography Now
Liam and the kids did some more investigating into all things Japanese.
They stumbled across this great YouTube channel called Geography Now.
It’s so good. The right amount of silliness vs facts. Check it out here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/Geography%20Now)
Did you know, Tokyo is home to 37 million people?! 😲
They also love all the themed restaurants.
“Mum! In one restaurant you eat dinner in your own jail cell!” Mila said.
“And you can buy lobsters from a vending machine, and they are ALIVE!” Linc said.
“Ew!!” I had to look it up.
It’s true!!
What do you do when you get it? Put it in your handbag? Get the train home? 😄

Moomin
“And if you’re having dinner on your own, they sit you next to a giant stuffed Moomin!” Mila said, delighted.
“What’s a Moomin?” I asked.
“Oh, it’s a cow”. Linc answered.
I said, “what do you think they’re saying to you if they sit you with a giant Moomin if you’re on your own?”
“That it’s not ok to be alone.” Mila said.
“That’s right.” I said. “But it is ok to be on your own, isn’t it?”
“Oh, c’mon Mum, who wouldn’t want to sit next to a giant Moomin?!” Linc protested.
I laughed. “Ok so, would you talk to your Moomin?”
“Of course!!” They both said. 😄

Big Squishy Apple
After lunch they worked on their craft projects.
Linc is closer to plastering his helmet and I think Mila is almost finished her squishy apple.
“I just need to cut some more out of the bite and paint the leaf.” She said.

Tomorrow, FARM SCHOOL!!!
