Day 57
2nd February 2022
The Grey Nurse

Our diving instructors tell us every year without fail, as soon as the water warms up, the grey nurse sharks appear like clockwork.
So, it seemed like a pretty good time to talk about sharks today!
The kids were so excited to see a grey nurse shark, but they didn’t see one. 😕 The first class back was in the creek to go over the breathing work etc after such a long break.
Makes sense.
We were looking forward to a hot and sunny dive day and you know what, today was cloudy and cool!

Afterwards we went to get hot chips for lunch. There was a huge shark above the counter and the guy said it was once alive and had been taxidermised.
Taxidermised! Ew!!
We chatted about this later at dinner. The kids wanted to know the difference between taxidermy & mummies.
It wasn’t really dinner conversation, but it was educational!

The Park
We took our chips to the park and then played tips on the spider web.
They had so much fun. The whole day was just filled with laughter and good times.

Japanese

Yesterday we watched a few YouTube videos on Tokyo & Japan. (Lincolns choice).
We learnt about the hundreds of vending machines in Tokyo and the kids were fascinated with all the different things you can buy from them.
Clothes, hot soup, toys & even bananas!
This afternoon out of the blue, Lincoln asks if he could start learning Japanese on Duo Lingo.
“Sure!” I said.
Not long after he started, he came over to where I was cooking dinner to tell me that Japanese has 5 levels of language!
He was showing me different symbols and how they represent sounds and adding two or more symbols created words and longer sounds.
“I need to print this out.” He said.
Over dinner Mila said she wanted to learn a language as well and Lincoln convinced her she should also learn Japanese so they can have secret discussions in front of Liam and I.
Mila said, “Ok. Tell me everything you know so far.” 😄
