Day 54

17th December 2021

Childhood Dreams

It was our last day at the farm for the year.

The kids are sad, but squealed when they heard they would be going back next year.

“What did you do today?” I asked.

“We climbed the Magic Faraway Tree!” Lincoln said.

“Charli climbed all the way to the top and touched the sun!” Mila gasped.

“Wow! Did you meet any tree folk?” I teased.

“Yes, we did. We met lots of magical spiders.” Mila continued.

“I only made it half way up.” Said Linc.

“I didn’t make it to the top either.” Said Mila.

“We went through the forest looking for peahen eggs today.” Mila continued.

“We saw the peacock up in the tree and we found the nest, but there were no eggs.”

Yep, they’re high! Self-managed risk & listening to your body at farm school.
Time in trees.

Gingerbread!

At morning circle Mila said she would like to cook gingerbread today.

I’m thinking this is probably her 5th batch in the last month.

She LOVES gingerbread. (I can’t complain. I love it too & we eat it so much now!)

She has not taken her ‘silk’ jacket off since we bought it. 😂

Meanwhile

Dad was on the loose in the forest near the farm, looking for mushrooms. (I know!!)

When I was a teenager, a series of girls were murdered in this forest and just looking at the pictures freaks me out.

They are beautiful though.

He didn’t find any mushrooms but he did manage to find himself mushroom tacos for lunch! 😂

Spooky forest!
No mushrooms today, so he collected pinecones instead.
Mushroom tacos…what are the chances?!

Korean BBQ

We surprised the kids with dinner at the Korean BBQ.

Linc ate here recently for a birthday party and has been talking about it nonstop ever since. It’s been driving Mila crazy and so we thought, ok maybe we better go.

The kids ate their weight in meat, 😲😲 and we barbequed veggies.

“Oh, this is so good.” Mila murmured through a mouthful of chicken. “I forgot what chicken tasted like!” 🙄

They loved the theatre of cooking their own food at the table. Oh, and the meat!

Christmas Lights

On the way home we drove around to see the Christmas lights.

We always end up at a house that goes all out to raise money for charity.

This year they’re raising money for the maternity ward. Last year they gave it a Downs Syndrome charity.

Such a beautiful family.

Their daughter sings carols on the front porch. Dad dresses up as Santa and you can have your photo taken with him in a sleigh.

Mum dresses up as Mrs Clause & hands out lollies.

We always bump into people we know, and the kids run around mad, eating lollies.

It’s a bit of a suburban family scene.

We love it! 😂

Merry Christmas!! 🎄
