Day 40

29th November 2021

Pet Snake

I woke up to Lincoln kissing my cheeks and smooching me up.

“Mum, can I get a pet snake?”

“A what, honey? A snake?” I slurred, while rolling away from him.

“Mum please! Just a little one! Corn snakes don’t bite much and they’re not venomous.”

“No Lincy, we’re not getting a snake mate, we just got a dog.”

He pulled away from me and sat on our bed wailing.

“Mum, I need a snake!!” I could barely make out the words due to the big, loud, cow crying.

I don’t know what’s going on lately, but they are both so tired and emotional. 🥱

End of the year, perhaps?

They’ve had the whole of term 4 ‘off’ from school. They shouldn’t be that tired.

Maybe they’re still transitioning?

Skate Park

So, after a bumpy start, Liam decided to take them to the skate park.

Then, we had another meltdown all because we couldn’t fit the bikes in the boot because we were taking Pepe.

🤷🏻‍♀️

When they finally got there, they had fun.

There are no pics of Lincoln, but he did shoot this movie of his sister, roller-skating.

I love how he says, “She’s just a little shy, so don’t spook her.” 😂

Newtons Cradle

Liam struggles with Chronic Fatigue and today, he had a really bad day.

They left the park early, because he was completely exhausted. 😪 Poor Liam. 😥

So, when they came home Liam went straight to bed and I set the kids up with Adventure Academy.

We only let them have it sometimes, so it’s great for days when it’s all too hard and we just need them to sit still and shhhhh.

Today they learned about Newtons Cradle. They learned about the transfer of energy, the conservation of energy, and potential & kinetic energy.

Afterwards, they wanted to know more, and they found this super cool video.

Chocolate Coin Nanna!

Oh, and while I think of it.

Guess who popped over and gave them the worlds biggest chocolate coin?

Chocolate coin Nanna, of course.

Chocolate coin
They ate it with lightning speed, so I made them hold up the foil wrapper. 😂

Diving

After lunch, Liam woke up and I suggested he take the kids to the pool.

Since getting their new diving kit, they’ve been asking to go to the pool, so they can practice free diving for Ocean School.

The pool is my favourite thing to do with them when I’m exhausted because, I just have to sit there. And watch.

I usually get a latte as well which makes for a nice 60-90min pit stop.

Lincoln & Mila in the pool
Water babies. Both Linc & Mila were born underwater. I don’t know if it makes a difference but they both LOVE the water!!

Practicing with the new (very expensive!) dive gear. Oh, & when you’re a home schooler, you get the pool all to yourself! 😎

Street Kids

In the afternoon, the kids went to play with the neighbourhood kids which surprisingly, I’m feeling much calmer about.

It does something to them too.

Being unsupervised gives them such a feeling of empowerment.

It’s like when they come home from Farm School.

They have this way about them.

Now that we suddenly find ourselves with no kids in the house for an hour each day, I’d like to say that I put my feet up and watched some trash TV, or called a girlfriend, but that would be a lie.

I mowed the front lawn and did the grocery shop. 🙄

Look at me go. Fresh as a daisy.
