Day 36
23rd November 2021
Driving School

Growing up on a farm in Australia you learn to drive young.
Country kids on farms are always driving a tractor, or a ride on lawn mower, or an old car.
Our parents bought an old second-hand car for us to drive around. (Well, we were test driving it for the weekend and I crashed it into a fence & so we bought it. Yay!😂 Still sorry Mum).
Our property was big enough that on weekends the kids would camp down by the river, far away from the house where we couldn’t be seen or heard. 😎
Neighbouring farm kids would drive over and hang out around the fire.
One time, we got brave and drove on the public road, along the bush track, through the industrial estate & into the drive through at McDonalds on the edge of town.
Propped up on pillows to look a bit bigger & a bit older, we bought a tonne of ice cream sundaes to take back to camp.
We felt terrified & rebellious & wild & free all at the same time.
Life was awesome!
So, whenever we go to the farm, the kids know it’s drive time.
They are getting SO BIG!
I could barely fit Lincoln on my lap! His feet comfortably reached the pedals and so he steered & did the pedals as well. 😮
I was really anxious!
He is so cautious and careful. So calculating, with everything he does.
Mila is big too, but still happy to steer. No pedals just yet.
Although, when she drives Nanna’s golf buggy she uses the pedals.
Mila says, “Nanna’s a crazy lady!” because Mila thinks Nanna drives too fast. 😂

Skatepark
After nanna’s we picked up Pepe & hit the skatepark.
Linc took his scooter, and of course he had an epic stack & hurt his knee. The same knee he has hurt before.
It doesn’t even look like a knee anymore. The skin looks like melted plastic. He has hit it that many times!
He refuses to wear knee pads. Something about them being itchy & sweaty. Urgh. Sometimes I wonder how we aren’t at emergency more often. 🙄
Anyway, I think it’s going to be ok.

Pasta & Big Ben
Mila wanted to cook pasta & at first, I was all,
“No, I’m not cooking pasta I’m too tired.”
Mila says, “No mama, I’ll cook it.”
I literally didn’t have the will power to argue with her.
“Ok then.” I said & flopped on the sofa.
And she did!
She cooked the whole thing.
She loved it.
Lincoln ate all his bowl. She was super-duper proud of herself!
Mila announced to us,
“I can go shopping on my own. I can cook, I can put on laundry. I’m ready for life!”
How gorgeous is that?! 😂😂
They really have become much more independent since we started home schooling a month ago.

We all ate pasta and learnt about Big Ben from the video below.
We couldn’t believe Big Ben has 334 steps & no lift!
Oh, & in case you didn’t know, Big Ben is the giant bell inside the clock, not the clock face itself. 🤓
Leek Update
Look at our leek!
It’s grown so much!
We decided to add spirulina to the water to see what happens?
Will it grow greener?
Will it grow faster having all those nutrients added to the water?
Only time will tell!

Soccer Mum
Liam organised a summer soccer team for Mila.
That’s sweet right?
Only the soccer day falls on a day when Liam’s at work and he can’t swap it!
So, guess who’s running the soccer team now?
Ah, that would be me.
I don’t even know the rules of soccer, other than you can’t touch the ball with your hands.
So yeh, I coach soccer now. âš½
I skilled up with YouTube, I have a mini whiteboard & I boss little people around once a week! 😂😂
