Day 30

15th November 2021

She Did What?!

It happened.

Mila cleaned her room!

The kids have a list of chores to do each morning.

They all get done accept Mila’s room. 😫

Her room looks like Chernobyl.

Like she tore out of there at lightning speed grabbing things & knocking things down as she went.

And every day she adds to it, by throwing in more and more things. 🤦‍♀️

She visits, rummages through it, then leaves.

It’s become so bad she can’t even get to the bed, not that she could sleep in it if she could. It’s covered in things!

She doesn’t even sleep their anymore! She gave up a week ago and moved in with Lincoln.

Today, Liam took a stand.

Here she is looking pretty pleased with herself. We haven’t been able to vacuum in here for weeks!

Dog Park

With the house in order, Dad took them to the dog park.

They met this little guy who was all cuddles and licks apparently (Pepe doesn’t lick. Like ever. The kids really want him to, but Greyhounds don’t lick. Far too sophisticated for that nonsense).

While I was editing these pics, I noticed Lincoln’s hair.

At our old school boys must have their hair cut short, above the eyebrows, ears & collar.

Look at him now!

Lincoln's Hair
Woolly Mammoth! If we were at school, Linc would be sent home with a letter requesting a haircut please. 😬
dog
We’re not sure what breed of dog he is but we’re thinking Pug cross Staffy? Anyone know? Sorry for the blur, I don’t think he liked to sit still.

Dad Did A Runner

When they came home, Dad did a runner. 😂

Liam struggles with chronic fatigue & sometimes he can’t keep up with the kids.

The morning had drained him & I kicked him out for a coffee to regroup.

Alone!

The kids played Beyblades together.

Linc drew a knife and then got started making it with an epic piece of wood for the handle. (He’s shaping it with his pocket knife).

Mila worked on a poster she’s designing, & then we got some bad news.

Linc’s close friend had his doggy put down. 😥

The message came to me from his mate’s mum & when I told Linc he gasped.

“Oh no! Oh no! Poor John!” He felt really sad about it.

He got straight to work making a card. He’s such an empathetic boy.

The Pool

Liam came home much calmer & took the kids to the pool.

They were practising their freedive breathing.

Every time Liam leaves the house I say, “Don’t forget to take pictures for the blog!”

His pics are usually great! However, today he took these.

I said “Liam I can’t actually use any of these. It’s pretty funny that there are no good ones. Maybe I could write about that?” I joked.

Then I said “Nah, that would be mean.”

He said, “No use them! You’ll just look like a healthy female mocking her husband.” 😂😂😂

We are happily married, I promise! 💗

Mushrooms

So, one of our plants is growing mushrooms.

We have no idea why.

But we’ve noticed a mushroom cycle.

First, we see a small forest of mushrooms. Then they release their rust-coloured spores & die. Only to be reborn a few weeks after that.

Here they are dead. You can see the tiny, powdery like spores.

I’ll take another picture when they’ve grown back.

We wonder what type they are & why they’re growing in the first place? 🤔 Feeling very Attenborough!

We’ll keep you posted on that.

World Map

Sometimes over dinner we put the world map on the table (or another poster or book) because it inspires lots of educational chat.

We spoke about lots of things.

Lines of longitude & latitude. Why is Chile so long and skinny? Why do islands far, far away from England belong to England?

But hold on?

“Why is the international date line so windy? Why isn’t it straight?”

We hypothesised for a minute & then looked it up.

We learnt, it’s divided this way so that every county & its states would share the same date.

Oh, and our word of the day?
