Day 195

26th September 2022

Nature School

Today was Mila’s first day at Nature School!!

She was so excited!

The picture above is not her actual room, but this is the igloo thingy, that is under construction.

For now, they’ve built a beautiful ‘room’ in a large shed and do you think I took any pictures this morning at drop off?

No. 😩

It had a large round mat of natural fibre. In the centre of the mat were shells and flowers arranged in circles with pillows around the edge of the mat.

There’s a large white cube style book shelf, filled with puzzles, card games & books.

A beautiful, large timber table stands along the other wall, with a basket of fresh oranges and strawberries.

There was a cushion area & a little table with wooden dinnerware & knifes.

This opened up, onto acres and acres of bush land!

“Mila, tell me everything!” I blurted out, the second we were alone.

“It was fun! We caught lizards!” She replied excitedly.

“Lizards?” I said.

“Not big ones, just little skinks.” She clarified.

“We put them in a big shell and they liked that, they curled up inside the corner.” She went on.

“What happened next?” I asked,

“We had morning tea and then we had art time. I drew a face, not a draw-so-cute face, a real face. I etched the eyebrows and the eyes and I did a nose!” (She never draw’s noses on her pictures). 😆

“Aileen drew an eye with a broken heart inside. Then we hiked down to the creek and we played in the creek for the rest of the day.” She continued.

“We had a stick about this big, and it had lots of leaves on it. Bushels. It had bushels on the end and we got the moss and wrung it out under water and then stuffed it in the bushels and then it held lots of water and made a shower. We were selling showers to everyone. It was our business.”

“Then a red Ute turned up to drive us back and we all got to sit in the back!” She gasped.

“Oh, and we painted pots and planted seeds!” She cried.

“Cool! What did you paint on yours?” I asked.

“I painted fire and at the top I painted it grey, for smoke.” She answered.

“That’s so creative Mila.” I said. “What seeds did you plant?”

“Red chilli peppers!” She said.

Eeek! Exciting! Igloo thingy will be ready for next term.

Meanwhile…

I was sitting on humungous sandstone steps, in the sun, looking out on this garden with my client.

We’re working on a writing project and we laughed a lot today. Such a special, special person. Love her! 💗

The drive over to her house is so pretty.

The Boys

The boys sent me this pic mid-morning.

We got a new tent for the season.

Our old one was too small.

Well, it was perfect, but the kids keep growing!

I remember when it was just Liam and I, with baby Linc sleeping between us.

Then, it was Liam and I, with toddler Linc between us, and baby Mila in a travel cot, in the corner.

Next, it was all 4 of us, sardined into the big bed. 😂

Now, it’s time to upgrade.

Us, in a room on one side, kids in a room on the other!

Linc’s been asking for a swag, so we might get him one for Christmas.

Anyway, the boys went surfing and played some chess over lunch.

In the afternoon Mila and I met the boys and went fishing.

Afterwards we went back to camp for BBQ veggie burgers and then Mila and I left the boys, and went home.

This is one of my favourite pics. 😍😍😍
Who is this man-child?! Linc’s had a growth spurt for sure. He looks so long here
