Day 193

22nd September 2022

Royalty

Casual. 😂

Today, Australia had a public holiday to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and so it seemed now was as good a time as ever, to teach Lincoln & Mila about pomp & pageantry. 🙄

Royalty.

It’s a thing.

If you’ve grown up with it, I suppose it’s a normal part of life.

I can remember the first time I learnt that princesses were real. I thought they were only in stories but when I found out there were real life princesses, I was deeply saddened.

I couldn’t believe that I wasn’t born a princess! 😭

I don’t feel anger towards the Royals but, really?

Servants, parades, blue blood?

Aren’t we past that?

Anyway, I walked out the door for work and left this lesson to Liam. I figured their English Daddy had this one covered.

They watched a YouTube video on the monarch and how it all works.

They looked at the Crown Jewels.

Is that Chambord inside that golden ball?

I got home from work around 10am and everyone was just hanging out.

“We’re doing everything English, for the Queen.” Mila cheered.

“We’re having pigs in blankets.” Lincoln joined in.

I looked at the table and sure enough, there were pigs in blankets everywhere.

Not long after, Linc went to a friend’s place, Mila watched a movie with Liam & I took Pepe for a run.

Afterwards, I dropped both kids to another friend’s place, Liam went to work and I found myself home alone!

I’d like to say, that I took a very long bubble bath with my book, but instead I poured a glass of wine, danced around to the kitchen and cooked dinner.

Music to cook by. 😂

Today felt like a weekend.

Everyone out doing their thing.

Coming and going.

When I picked up the kids, they were happy and didn’t want to come home.

Mila ran to give me kisses.

“Mila are you wearing makeup? Have you been playing weddings?” I asked.

She giggled and ran off.

For dinner, you guessed it, English bangers with mash and gravy. Then I put them to bed.

One day, there’s a good chance our little girl will wear a wedding dress, but for now, it’s just a dream in her mind, where she gets to be a real life princess.
