Day 188
14th September 2022
Mt. Olympus

We started slowly again today.
We made pancakes and did our morning routine and then met on the sofa, for history.
Today we learnt about the origins of the Olympics in ancient Greece.
The Olympics started when two cities in Greece made peace, after years of fighting. They decided to celebrate the peace, by holding a festival to honor the god, Zeus.
The festival was named after Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece.
The Greeks believed Zeus, and other gods, lived on Mount Olympus.
We went to YouTube to check out Mount Olympus, and found a great video of an Australian girl, who hiked to the top of Mt. Olympus.
She stayed overnight, halfway up the mountain, and completed the hike the following day.
It looked so fun! Now, we all want to hike to the top of Mount Olympus!

Afterwards, we watched a highlights reel of athletes winning their events. It was really inspiring to see the culmination of years, of sacrifice, and hard work.
Then, we went to our sketch pads to draw an athlete.

After our hot, delicious, not very healthy morning tea, we started work on English.
Linc’s still working on his Patagonia essay and Mila worked on comprehension and word expansion.

Next, the kids got into an argument over a hamburger, 🙄 and Mila stormed off, in a huff.
We took Pepe for a walk, and this seemed to calm everyone down.
Shopping was next. We’re off to the snow this weekend and we needed supplies.
Linc & Mila took charge.

When we got home, we worked on our maths lesson and then, we were finished formal lessons for the day.
Mila went straight to her slime & Linc had his computer time.
“Mum, I want to start a slime channel on YouTube with Zara and Matilda.” Mila said, already covered in goop.
“That sounds great, you’d be so good at that.” I answered trying to be supportive, but seriously not loving all the sticky mess lately. 😩😩😩
Today was another classic, ‘Mila was here’, moment.

Lincy had a friend over after school and later, we headed to basketball.
The friends we’re going to the snow with, invited us around for dinner tonight to discuss snow stuff.
Exciting!!
Night. xx
Ps, Linc pegged out a load of laundry this morning. He’s not a fan of pegging it out, he only likes putting a load on, so I had to run out and get a picture! 😂
