Day 186
12th September 2022
Farm Day

Friday was farm day!
It was a busy day.
Liam drove the kids to the farm in the morning and then came home and went to back to bed because, he’s got the lurgy, again! (We’ve been passing a cold back and fourth for weeks on end). 😩
I had a meeting and then went to work with a client. After that I rushed home for lunch and then went to collect the kids from the farm.
I left a little early today, as Mila and I were going to the city for a friend’s birthday.
The drive to the farm is so pretty. It’s never lost on me, and I’m always pulling over to take pictures.

When I got to the farm, a string of boys came running through the trees wielding swords. They ran past me and disappeared into the forest.
Linc & some other boys were in the shed, working with tools. When Linc saw me, he rushed over.
“Mum! Look what I made?!” He held up a little wooden tool.
“That’s so cool Linc!” I said matching his enthusiasm.
We walked around the shed and I heard Mila before I saw her. 😂
Halfway down the paddock Mila and some girls were piled up on the trampoline. All we could hear were little girls, giggling. 😍😍😍
There was an open plan log cabin, made of large thick logs, that I don’t remember seeing before.
The whole place took my breath away and I wanted to stay there with them and watch the sun go down.
I don’t go to the farm much because it’s a workday for me.
I felt so happy to be able to give this day to them, every week. This very special day on the farm.

The City
When we got home from the farm, Linc went for a sleepover and Mila and I hit the road. (Liam managed to make it out for poker night, even though he was a snot monster).
I settled Mila in with the girls & got changed to go to dinner.
Did you know you can buy hairdryers that cost $900?!!!
Well, I didn’t.
My friend has one. It’s made by Dyson and while the price is completely immoral, it was SPECTACULAR.
We went to Long Chim for dinner and then kicked on to karaoke.
Whenever I’ve been to karaoke, it’s always a crowed bar with a stage and a microphone, but this was a private room scenario!
Oh my goodness, we had so much fun.
We ordered our drinks from a kiosk inside our private booth and then they arrived at the door on a trolley. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We all lost our voices screaming, Call Me, by Blondie.
The next day we made pancakes and took the girls to a fun fair.

Meanwhile…
Linc was having a fun sleepover.
They had pizza and marshmallows around the fire.
They stayed up late and played video games.
In the morning they played basketball. 🏀

The Party
The next day Linc had a birthday party & Mila & I were still tired from the city, so we hung out at the house.
Mila made slime (again) and made an absolute hell of a mess, (again).
Her friend from around the corner showed up and they went straight to the trampoline, with the hose and the soap, and slid around and giggled well into the afternoon, leaving all the slime mess for me! 🙄
Still, it was nice to go slow and just be at the house.
Linc’s party was in the trees. An afternoon of ziplining!
After that, he went home with the birthday boy, and I didn’t see him until bedtime.
He gave me the biggest hug.
“I love you so much mum.” He said, his head burying into me.
Sigh.
We are busy. They are messy. They melt down, from time to time. They are expensive!!
But these moments polarise in my mind. I’ll bring them out again when I’m old and grey, sitting in my rocker & staring off out the window.
