Day 169

17th August 2022

Create!

Haminations – We πŸ’Ÿthis guy atm.

As you may have guessed, the day started with drawing and animating.

Mila worked on her new animal, for their book.

Today it was a fish, Fishy-Wishy.πŸ˜†

I will try to find a picture of it.

Linc moved forward with his animation tutorials. Each video teaches a new skill.

There are so many videos! 😬

I hope he doesn’t give up.

If he does, I figure $80 for an animation workshop is still pretty great.

So far, he’s loving it.

Today we watched a video from Bryson, the creator of Haminations, and his best bud who were modifying well known drawings.

He gained a lot of confidence from this video.

After this, he learnt how to isolate & animate different parts of a drawing.

The example used was an elephant.

Basically, you draw a skeleton inside the image with a layering technique that allows you to move the different parts, in different directions.

At the same time that you’re coding this, you have a timeline on the bottom of the screen which allows you to code how long it will take the trunk for example, to move and in how many sections.

If the trunk is catching a ball, you need to animate the ball to move up through the air, to the final position of the trunk, in order for these two parts to meet at the same time.

It’s hectic.

Lincoln’s enjoying though.

So, after this video he played around with a few more avatar ideas.

I told them to finish up and that we would take Pepe for a run and then grab some clay.

When I hoped out of the shower, Lincoln had gone back to bed!

This is SO unlike him!

The man of steel, energiser bunny extraordinaire, was in bed?!

Huh?

I went to him, and his eyes were closed.

“Urgh.” He managed to get out.

He’d been struck down by young man flu.

He had sounded snotty yesterday & I guessed he’d reached his limit.

I wasn’t about to drag him out to the park when he was felling so terrible.

I set him up in our bed so he could watch TV, and bought him a fruit salad, and tissues and water.

“Thank you so much mum.” He sniffled.

Clay

Mila and I ducked out to the shops and returned with supplies, and clay!

We’d planned to make egg cups today.

(I’ve begun buying eggs again πŸ™„ as they’ve been begging me).

We followed instructions from a clay magazine I bought, and here’s how we did.

Mila started off with a Christmas tree decoration. 😍

Her ‘kitty’ whom she refused to put whiskers on.
My dinosaur. Linc staggered out for water and helped me with the eyes.

Once we finished creating, we put them in the oven on 120deg Celsius for 30 minutes and they were cured.

They’re so cute!!

I made them noodles for lunch and attempted to do English with Mila, but she was having none of it.

“If Lincoln’s not doing English, then I’m not.” She protested.

Seemed fair enough to me!

So, they watched TV for the rest of the day & I got some things done.
