Day 163

9th August 2022

The Boys!

The night before the ski trip, Linc had his first sleepover with these gorgeous brothers.

They were so excited, and their mama tells me when they went to bed, she could hear the 3 of them chatting away. 😍😍😍

I got a call when they were halfway to the snow. They’d stopped for lunch and were playing at the park.

The girls & I were just heading out for Teppanyaki when they called again.

“Hey how’s it going?!” I asked Liam.

“Yeh it’s great. It’s cold! We got the tent set up but it’s just started to rain & our fire’s just gone out.” He answered sounding surprisingly chipper!

“Oh no!” I replied. “That sucks.”

“I think we can get it going again. The boys are snuggled up in bed together and we’re just heating up some dinner.” He went on. (He made a big pot of chickpea curry!)

I thought they were camping at Jindabyne, where there are large, heated, communal hang out areas, with sofas and pool tables, and a kitchen etc.. but they were in the National Park!

Toilets only! No warm spaces. Eeek! πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά

We didn’t hear from them again until the following day.

“Hi!” Liam said sounding far, far away.

“Hi! How did you boys sleep last night?” I asked.

“It wasn’t too cold, but the wind was absolutely howling, so we didn’t sleep too well.” He said.

When they came home it was midnight.

Mila and I were sound asleep, when I woke to Lincs warm cheek on mine and his arms around me.

“I love you so much mum.” He whispered.

Even in my sleep, I felt the comfort of knowing he was home safely.

The next day I asked him all about the trip.

“It was so cold mum. In the morning I couldn’t feel my hands or my feet!” He said.

“Really?” I gasped. “Did you have to pee in the night?” I asked, thinking of practicality. πŸ™„

“No way. I held it.” He laughed.

“It was so cold my pee had steam on it!” He shrieked.

“Argh!” I laughed.

So close you could reach up and touch the sky.

“There was a frozen lake, and we were throwing stones in it.” He went on excitedly.

“Was it frozen solid?” I asked curiously.

“No, only the small puddles were frozen hard. The rocks fell through the ice.” He explained.

“In the night we played a game where Ashton was in the middle, and we had to hide in the bushes and jump scare him.” He said.

I love that even though it was sub zero temperatures, they still ran around and played games like it was 25 deg. πŸ˜„

So cool.

Seriously handsome dudes.

“I had a Fanta!” Linc remembered.

“No!” I said.

He grinned from ear to ear. “Dad bought me a Fanta, two times!”

Dad is definitely ‘good cop’.

They had ok weather on the first day, and great weather on the second day.

Last year Linc skied, but this year he wanted to try snowboarding.

Liam said it took him a day to get the hang of it, but by the second day he’d figured it out.

When they got home it was midnight, and the very next day Liam left at 10.30am to go right back down to the snow!! This time with a client.

Lucky duck!

😍😍😍
