Day 158

2nd August 2022

The Deep Sleep

When I woke the house was still.

The sun was shining on my eyes and I knew it was late.

I rolled over to see Liam, but he was gone.

He’d long left for work, and I hadn’t even heard him.

I’ve been so tired since Gorillaz, it’s like I can’t catch up on sleep. (??)

I staggered out to the lounge room to find the kids curled up in their oodies watching Raising Dion and that was good enough for me.

I boiled the kettle and we snuggled for over an hour.

It was a lazy little piece of heaven.

“We better take Pepe for a run and then we’ll start the day.” I said.

I went to brush my teeth and when I came back, Lincoln was in the middle of a full fry up! He had beans on the stove, hash browns in the pan & he was buttering toast.

“Linc, we’re walking out the door!” I remarked, astonished at his sudden burst of energy.

“Well, I’m hungry. I need breakfast.” He replied.

“It’s 10am!” I pleaded.

We had lots of cuddles at the dog park. All our favourites where there, and some new doggies too.

Pepe ran his heart out and the dog people gasped. They love it when he really gets going.

English/Arts

We did a little history and then I put Mila to work on the times table app and Linc and I worked on English/Arts.

Today’s lessson, was more on geography.

We learnt about the lines of longitude and latitude and the prime meridian.

In the Northern Hemisphere the latitude is always given in degrees north & in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s given in degrees south. (Of the equator).

In the Eastern Hemisphere, the longitude is given in degrees east of the prime meridian and in the Western Hemisphere it’s given in degrees west.

He answered a heap of questions that followed and then a series of questions on the correct use of apostrophes.

Mila had to study an Austrian painting, answer questions and then she worked on her spelling, and did some sentence diagramming.

Linc worked on the times tables app and then I gave them a little quiz.

When we finished our core, we were bushed! 😂

The kids both started moaning about nothing, and said they were tired.

I could have really done with a tinker crate at that moment, but there wasn’t one.

When I suggested we get Lego boxes, the moaning stopped.

I didn’t feel like going to K-Mart, but it was only 1pm and I was too tired to manage whiney kids.

Lego would keep them busy, plus I still had to clean up from last night!

At K-Mart, Linc chose a sports car and Mila, a fun park.

We got home and they set up on the floor.

The house fell quiet.

I played some Elliott Smith, cleaned up, did some laundry, booked a vessel for our products to be shipped to the States, emailed the finance guy at the bank & looked for travel insurance for our holiday.

There’s always, ALWAYS jobs to do, right?

The kids were still busy with Lego when I’d finished, and so I sat down with a cup of tea and did some drawing.

After school we met friends and went to drama and basketball training.

Another sleep in tomorrow. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have finally caught up!
