Day 154
27th July 2022
Moment of Bliss

This was me waking up this morning to a quiet house with no children and no work!
I love my children, but a morning to myself with no questions to answer, or tights to find, or spilt cereal to clean up, is a little moment of bliss all to itself!
I’d like to say I indulged in a mani/pedi and a champagne breakfast, but that would be a lie.
Instead, I did 3 loads of laundry, fed the fish & took a shower.
After, I collected the kids and heard all about their night.
“Nana made us a roast lamb dinner!” Mila gasped.
“With gravy!” Lincoln added.
They basically eat their weight in meat, whenever they go to Nan’s house.
Actually, it’s the full works.
Milo on cereal, pavlova for dessert, biscuits and chocolate coins around the clock and all kinds of home-made treats.
Nana has mellowed since I was their age.
Nana & Pa time = Heaven.
English/Arts
For English today, Linc’s lesson ticked off geography, drawing & creativity when he was asked to draw a map of South America and answer questions.
He really enjoyed this, and gave it his all.

Mila’s lesson was on poetry & spelling.
After reading from her poetry book, ‘I Sat By The Sea’ she was asked to create a poem in the style of ABAB.
After cracking herself up with ridiculous rhyming & MUCH faffing about, she came up with this.
Beach
I went to the beach,
the sand was very steep.
I made a castle, it was high.
My dog’s are shy,
they should die.
Well, she got the rhyming down! 😂😂😂
She aced her spelling test & then got stuck into some craft.

Ancient Glass Blowing

In history today we learnt about ancient glass blowing.
The Phoenician’s who lived in northern Canaan were famous for making glass.
First, they made a chemical called lye from pouring water over the ashes of a wood fire and collecting the liquid that oozed out.
Then, they mixed the lye with pure sand and melted it in a hot, hot fire.
Once the mixture was hot enough, they poured it into moulds and blew the glass with a blow pipe which forced the glass into the mould.
Amazing!
They could do all of this, without YouTube?! 😂

We watched the video below on how to make a glass vase with a mould.
The kids were really impressed and asked me to ‘book us in’ for a workshop. 😂
Ah, you’re 9 & 11. I’ll see what I can do!

After this, we called it a day.
The kids had play dates and sport in the afternoon and Liam and I somehow made it through the afternoon without a nap.
My eyes are scratchy now thought, & I’m ready for bed.
Zzzzzzz 😴😴😴
