Day 145

22nd June 2022

A Perfect Day

In the middle of the night, Linc woke with a nightmare.

Then Liam woke me an hour after that, coughing & sniffling with his flu, and so this morning, I was tired & stressed out about the dentist.

I have one more tooth to fix, since my accident last year.

I have massive PTSD about it & freak out at every appointment, so I really didn’t need to be tired & fragile this morning.

ALAS!!!

I only needed an x-ray today!!

JOY!!!

Nothing could go wrong after a start like that.

When I got home, Mila and I went for some morning rays with Pepe at the park, and Linc stayed back to rearrange his room.

Again.

Pepe looked so handsome in his sweater and ran his heart out.

Armenhotep IV

We took toasted sandwiches to the sofa for history and learnt about Armenhotep IV who was King Tutankhamun’s father.

The Egyptians are polytheistic which means they serve many gods.

Armenhotep decided to only serve one God, ARTEN.

He forbid the Egyptian people from serving any other gods. He closed the temples and built a new temple in the name of ARTEN.

He even changed his name to Akhenharten, which meant worshiper of ARTEN.

When he died the Egyptian people erased Armenhotep’s name from every monument he built.

Monotheism was over.

Polytheism was back.

I asked Lincoln & Mila, if they became Pharaoh today, what would they change?

Lincoln said, he would put protection over all the animals, except livestock because he didn’t want the people to not like him. 😂

Mila said she would make everything free and people would make things for other people for free because they enjoyed it. 😍

English/Arts

Next Mila and I worked on alliteration, spelling & homophones.

Then we studied this gorgeous painting of a Native American mum & bub and wrote a list of words that came to mind and then put the list of words into categories like abstract noun, adverb etc.

Lincoln was next and today he began work on a narrative piece of writing.

He chose a political narrative, where the Prime Minister is under attack.

Later..

After a trampoline break, Linc practiced his basketball dribbling and Mila took Dad a cup of tea & a snack in bed.

I’m not sure what the kale and cheese is about, but she booped his nose upon delivery, & left. 😂

We’re working a system with the stripy top – one on, and one in the wash. 😂 Thanks Katrina!!
I think Mila has Dad on a diet!

Basketball

We went to check out the new basketball stadium, and find out about a membership.

We were so stoked to learn we could come anytime we wanted, so long as a court was available, & we only had to pay just $4!

The courts are booked at 4pm in the afternoons but otherwise, they’re pretty much sitting there empty.

Linc was so happy!!!

He ran out onto the court, and then up to the bathrooms, and the lockers, and marvelled at the newness, and the squeakiness, of the courts.

It was pretty fun in there.

Mila is practicing netball goals, so she can’t use the backboard. Still nailing it!

I guess we can add private basketball stadium to our list of assets, now that we’re home schoolers. 😎

Around 3.30pm the place began to fill up with school kids and before we knew it, at least 15 kids walked in that we knew, and they all started running around like crazy.

Linc asked if we could stay and watch the game and before I knew it, he had negotiated his way onto the court!

It was so exciting to watch him play his very first game!

He did so well and smiled the whole way through it.

Happiest boy alive!

Oh, and one more exciting thing happened.

Our friends are going to Farm School next term!!

Today was the best!!
