Pepe’s World

If you think this doggy is having a roll and a scratch, you would be wrong.

This is Pepe, and he’s sound asleep.

Believe it or not, this is not his favourite place to nap.

He prefers the sofa more and more these days & only sleeps here when we are all home, out of respect. 😎

When we leave him home alone we put on a documentary & he curls up on the sofa. Today he learnt about whales. 😆

This was our view this morning as we ate breakfast.

There were left over eggs from the Baked Alaska we made and so the kids were calling for eggs.

“Mum, can you make me eggs & soldiers?” Lincoln asked.

“I want scrambled mama.” Mila called out.

I taught them how to make eggs, & there were pancakes too!

I went for a shower and Liam took the kids through Math’s.

More mode, median, mean & range today to finish off the lesson.

We battled the wind and took Pepe for a run.

It was wild.

We had to scrunch our eyes tightly, every time giant gusts of dust blew over the field.

I dropped the kids at the library where Liam was waiting, and then I left to run some errands.

(Adulting, such a scam!)

This picture looks cosy doesn’t it.

When I caught up with them at lunchtime, Liam said they were so wild in the library, he felt mentally drained. 😴

Kids turn feral in the wind.

Mila borrowed A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Lincoln borrowed a Japanese comic & The Map Maker Chronicles.

At home, I made them lunch and we sat on the back step and watched them go bananas on the tramp.

Liam had to work in the afternoon & so I took over.

I managed to get them inside and settled on the sofa and we read from our World History book.

Ancient Africa

Today we learnt about Ancient Africa and how 12,000 years ago the Sahara Desert was a green fertile place with rivers and animals like gazelle, giraffes, turtles, fish, crocodiles & more!

We know this because archaeologists discovered a feast of turtle bones, giraffe bones & seeds.

Africans also drew on the walls of caves depicting their way of life including animals & women dressed in beautiful clothes riding wild cows.

Mila ran out of the room and quickly returned with the world map, and we looked at Africa (and then many other places) and went over everything we’d learnt so far.

We had the Egyptians & the pharaohs, the first cities happening in Mesopotamia, trade happening with India, the Chinese learning about silk & growing rice, and now Africa.

History takes us all over the place. We never know where we’re going to end up & what we’re going to learn.

We didn’t get to YouTube today because, they needed to move again.

I decided they needed the pool.

A swim for them and a rest for me.

We had 40 minutes before school got out, and & our private pool would be rudely taken over by thousands of kids arriving for swimming lessons.

I knew we could do it.

After dinner we watched the Princess Bride & then sat around and played Rummy-O (on the floor as the table was full of craft)😩 and Pepe decided to play too.

It wasn’t our best learning day, but it wasn’t a complete disaster.
