Day 117

12th May 2022

Protest

This morning over breakfast we finished our book on rules.

Following on from ‘unfair rules’ like colonisation, we read about how society changes rules.

We talked about freedom of speech and that you had the right to organise a peaceful protest to express your opinion about things you strongly disagree with.

Protesting can put pressure on governments to call for a vote & make change.

Yes, Mila is still wearing the same top for the 3rd day in a row because it’s new, and that’s what she does. 😂 I will make her put it in the wash tonight, after her bath.

We looked up images of protests.

We saw thousands and thousands of people joining together for their beliefs.

We saw people with signs, we saw the passion on their faces as they fought for what they believed in.

We read about the horrendous treatment of Indigenous peoples after colonisation, and how in 1967 a vote was held to change the Australian Constitution to remove parts that discriminated against Indigenous peoples.

Gymnastics

Nadia Comăneci

When I was just 1 years old, Nadia Comăneci scored a perfect 10 for her gymnastics routine on the uneven bars.

Mila & I watched her routine, and it blew us away.

Nadia is incredible. We’ve started to watch the 1984 movie about her life.

Mila is so inspired by her!

We used to do kindy gym when Mila was little but stopped for a while. She’s just started back and absolutely lives and breathes gym.

She has plans to go to the Olympics! 🤩🤩🤩

I work on gym day, so I don’t get to see her, 😭 but our friend kindly sent me these pics.

We have plans to buy her some gym equipment for her birthday. I don’t know where we’re going to put it, but we’ll figure something out.

This girl needs to tumble & flip!

Just in case you haven’t seen Nadia in action, check this out.

Meanwhile…

Liam said the kids weren’t too interested in anything much today, not even Mark Rober!

So, while Mila was at gym with a friend, he took Linc fishing.

Linc said it was so cold he couldn’t feel the line pulling on his finger.

Then suddenly….

FISH ON!

They reeled in this guy.

They sent me a message at work.

“I guess you’re having fish for dinner tonight huh?” I teased.

But when I saw Linc later, he said he let him go.

“I had to do a big throw to get him over the rocks.” Linc told me the story.

“I said, I, 2, 3! But before I could throw him, he flipped out of my hands!” He gasped.

“Oh no! Did he make it over the rocks?” I asked concerned.

“Yeh, he just made it. And then he was gone so quick. We didn’t see him anymore after that.” He said.

Liam said they had the nicest day. One on one time is pretty special.
Twilight. So pretty.

Tomorrow, farm day!!
