Day 116
11th May 2022
Mum!

“Mum!” Mila cried out.
[Violent sobbing & groaning.]
“Mummy!”
I was dead asleep but suddenly I was bolt upright, adrenaline raging through my body.
“Mila! What’s wrong?!”
She was at the bedroom door sobbing holding up a bloodied limb.
Panic set in.
But…. wait a second.
That blood looks a bit…. hold on.
THAT’S FAKE BLOOD!!
“Mila!!” I yelled, both relived and cross all at once.
“That’s not funny!”
Then it turned comical.
Lincoln limps in.
“Argh, argh. Mum.” He badly acted.
He couldn’t even keep a straight face at this point.
Then they were both laughing, and Liam & my hair slowly returned to brown.
At 6.30am, they pranked us!
“Oh, you guys are gonna get it!” I said.
Rules

After breakfast we cosied up on the sofa and read a book called ‘Rules For Everyone’.
It talked about why we have rules & who makes them.
Power.
Corruption & bribery.
Protesting.
It covered a lot.
We learnt about a dictatorship and a democracy.
We discussed things along the way. They have such a beautiful outlook on fairness & kindness.

Voting
After our book we went to vote.
We went to YouTube first to see who was running & what their policies were.
We discussed that policies were kinda like promises. You voted for the people with polices that you most agreed with and then you hoped that they would keep their promises, if they won the election.
They understood.
We made our decision and then rode our bikes along the track to cast our vote.
It was a bit intimidating walking through the flyer people outside the polling booth, but we walked straight to our flyer person and then headed inside.
The kids copied the numbers in order to vote correctly and then folded up the ballot paper and put them in the correct boxes & we were done.
They actually voted. I just supervised. 😂

Mark Rober

We were tired after our big ride and sat down for toasted sandwiches.
We logged on to our engineering project to see what was next.
It’s time to research what our build needs, figure out the constraints and look at what other people have used when building something similar.
Lincoln wanted to get started on a prototype and went straight for the glue gun.
First, we wrapped paper around the cone to make a template and then we cut it out of cardboard.

We made a great start on the prototype & Dad can take over tomorrow. 👍
So after that, they separated to watch TV and I put on a pot of soup and did some work.
Mila decided on a workout to be ready for gymnastics tomorrow. 😂
