Day 115

10th May 2022

Ice-Cream Scoop Saver!

Here it is!

After many ideas, the kids settled on the ice-cream scoop saver. 😂😂😂

How many kids take that first big lick and then splat! The ball of ice-cream falls to the ground and begins to melt.

Well, not anymore! 😂

The ice-cream scoop saver has 2 gears, a crank, a little bowl & a collar to hold the ice-cream cone.

When you take those first licks, you can position the bowl to move left or right. If your ice-cream scoop decides to head south….you catch it in your bowl!

Part of the project is to make a video of your invention in action. Mila was practicing her cry face all afternoon.

When we finish we’ll upload the video here.

They also decided on a Snackinator.

A snackinator is a series of cannisters that hold the ingredients to your favourite snack which is pre-programmed into the electronics. You press a button, and the correct measurements fall from the canisters into the mixing bowl and all you have to do is mix & put in the oven. 😎

If we have time, they’re really keen to get this one off the ground as well.

Ice-Cream Scoop Saver.
Snackinator – Ah, the first drawing included a conveyor belt. We did have to bring it back a little. 😂
The Disco Glitter Party Power – Flashing party lights with the ability to shoot a cannister of glitter over your party when you press a button. 😎
Explaining things to Dad.

Core

I wasn’t going to make them do their core today as our engineering course takes a lot of our focus but when I woke up, they had both done handwriting and were doing essay work.

Ah, ok. I guess we can tick that off.

Dog Walk

After over 2 hours of brainstorming and drawing, it was time to take Pepe for a walk.

We found a break in the rain and wandered into a cafe for a well-deserved muffin.

We ended up chatting about our engineering build most of the way and planning our video.

The kids were excited that they would get to eat lots of ice-cream while making the video to go along with their project.

One got white chocolate the other got milk chocolate.
Pepe!! 😍😍😍

After our walk it was time for a rest. 😂

We watched the rest of How To Train your Dragon that we started last night. We haven’t watched it for years. I was telling Liam how the kids were able to understand a lot more of the adult humour this time around.

We had lunch and the kids separated to do their own thing. Later, when school broke out, some friends came over to play.

Tomorrow, we source materials and draw up designs for our engineering build. 😃

Mila & her friend were goofing around with her earrings & used one for a nose ring. Ha! Cute.
