Day 107
28th April 2022
Only Child

Waking up to one child this morning, was easy peasy.
Linc sat at the table doing his English (in order to earn his video game hour😂), and the house was as quiet as a tomb.
There was no one to fight with. No bickering over which TV show to watch. No one to yell at for finishing the last of the cereal.
It was just so, quiet.
Pepe found my robe and was cuddled up on the sofa.
So sweet!!!
He’s just started doing this now it’s getting a bit colder. I didn’t have the heart to disturb him.

Linc finished handwriting and drawing and then ran off for his computer time.

I had a big day ahead of me.
We had to leave the house early to collect Mila from nanas because she had gymnastics, and also to collect the other car.
We had a specialist appointment in the middle of the day and then soccer training in the afternoon.
Oh, and I was working!
I negotiated a work from home day which meant lots of emailing from the passenger seat while driving here and there.
I felt frazzled all day and I’m sure everyone I spoke to thought I was nuts.

I don’t know how we managed it today, but after gym and before we all scattered in different directions, Liam made a fry-up of beans, mushrooms & hash browns on toast and we all ate lunch together. (I know, not the healthiest of meals, but he is English after all & they love a fry-up!)
This is a rare sight on a weekday so I had to snap a picture of course!

Linc & Liam took Pepe for a walk to the shops to get teabags. (We ran out of teabags!!!) 😮😣
Mila asked for her computer time.
“Sure. As soon as you’ve done your English.” I said sounding much more casual than yesterday.
To my surprise, she didn’t put up much of a fuss at all. She just got on with it.

Butterfly Knife

When they came back from their walk, Linc tore into the house like a tornado.
“It’s here!!” He shrieked.
His package had arrived.
He ripped it open and low and behold, the butterfly knife was inside.
The foil ball challenge was instantly put on hold.

Now before you freak out & wonder just what kind of parent I am, it has a dull blade.
Like, totally blunt.
Not even a knife really.
It’s for flicking around and doing awesome tricks with.

Linc and Mila both went to friends’ houses for a play and I smashed out some work going into overtime before running out to collect the kids and their mates and get everyone to soccer training.

Tomorrow is our first day back at the farm and excitement is high.
Phew. Big day.
I’d like to say I’m off for a bath with candles and oils and other cool stuff, but I know I’m actually headed to the bottom of this cookie bag & then to bed.
Night.
