Day 105

26th April 2022

Term 2!

Just like that, our home school days were back.

We were so tired this morning. Not just the kids.

I had relished my sleep over the holidays: our lazy mornings.

Breakfast around 9, then to the park to let Pepe have a run, back home for 2nd breakfast around 11.30am.

A pot of tea on the sofa with dark chocolate, while formulating a plan to leave the house for a couple of hours and then home again for a movie.

What’s not to love?! 😂

When I woke up this morning the kids were watching Phineas & Ferb on TV and when I told them to finish up the episode and turn the TV off, it was like a record scratched.

They both stared at me.

I swallowed hard.

“We begin our core learning again today. It’s the start of term 2.” 😬

“Urghhhhhh.” Was the sound they made.

Moan, moan, moan.

Luckily, their motivation for an hour of video games is high!

No core. No gaming!

After that, it was pretty much smooth sailing. They completed English, handwriting and spelling without a peep.

Lincoln even wrote a poem & Mila a rap song!

Shamshi-Adad

Not sure what I was thinking launching into history today.

I don’t think any of us were paying attention.

This guy called himself, King of The Whole World!

He was a total dictator and psycho.

Following that we got out the world map to find Iran (where all of this nonsense went on) which led to lots of country searching, and then we called it a day.

Delivery

We took Pepe for a walk and when we got back, there was a delivery!!

Mila has been waiting on gymnastics leotards for weeks now and they finally came!

She squealed as she tore into the bag and that was the last I saw her for the rest of the day. She took off to the trampoline to work on her routine.

Linc had a small meltdown as his package did not arrive. 😒 He’s waiting on a butterfly knife.

Meanwhile…

Linc headed down to the garage to work on his katana sword.

Liam showed him how to use some of the tools so he could use them all by himself.

He LOVES this. He is becoming so independent and doesn’t want me to help with any of this stuff.

He changed the brake pads on our car over the holidays! (Liam was there assisting, thankfully).

Yes, they are pyjamas. Showers & baths happen around the clock at home-school! 😂
In case you missed it, he’s making a Japanese katana. One happy little guy.
Oh, totally worth mentioning….Linc put on a load of laundry this morning without complaint. You’re welcome, future Ms Lincoln Butcher! 😁

Nachos

I did have full intention of putting up recipes each day during the holidays but as it turns out, we didn’t cook anything new!

Apparently, we only eat curries, dahls, pasta, soup & Mexican. 🤔

Liam did make a gorgeous Vietnamese Pho last week. I will make him write down the recipe & share it here. It was delicious!

Welcome back & thanks for reading! 🥰

Night. 😴
