Day 83
10th March 2022
Dad Down!

I slept next to Darth Vader last night, so it wasn’t a total surprise when I woke up to find poor Liam had been struck down with man flu!
I bought him tea in bed and quietly closed the bedroom door.
I told the kids Dad was sick and if we started our learning now, they would be finished super early, and they could spend the day watching movies or making craft.
I wasn’t sure how that would go down so early but we just kind of jumped into it.
We sat at the table eating breakfast and learnt about The Jewish People.
It started with the death of King Sargon who had dominated Mesopotamia for 50 odd years.
When he dies, all the Kings from the cities he’d been controlling all start fighting each other and one man called Abram started freaking out and began giving extra sacrifices to the moon god etc, not knowing what else to do.
Then God speaks to him and says:
“Move away from here, I’ll tell you where to go and if you worship me I’ll leave the land to you & your children.” God promises.
Abram has a laugh. He doesn’t have children and he and his wife are old. Like grandparent old.
God says: “Don’t worry about it.”
Or something to that effect.
So, they move to Canaan (present day Lebanon, Syria, Jordan & Israel) and God changes Abram’s name to Abraham and his wife’s name to Sarah.
Then sure enough! Sarah falls pregnant. At 90!!
I would be so mad at God if he made me pregnant at 90! 😮
So, they name their son Isaac and then Isaac grows up and has a son named Jacob and then Jacob has 12 sons!!
All 12 families lived in Canaan and each of the 12 sons had their own children, and they were known as the tribe of ‘insert dads name here’.
These 12 tribes became known as the nation of Israel or Jewish people.
Phew.
As a non-bible reader, (this passage was from Genesis the first book of the bible) it’s a lot.
However, both of the kids knew the story from their school days.
So, now they have context. This all happened after the semi good-looking man King Sargon, was killed.
It was 7.15am. 😂
Next, I set Linc up with English/Arts, Mila played Math’s games and I ran for a shower.
I hadn’t even washed the conditioner out of my hair when the shower bandit turned up to hog the hot water.
I half opened one eye so as not to get soap in it and saw Lincolns little face smiling up at me.
It was hard to be mad.
They’d both finished all their learning and were on their final lesson as I was walking out the door to work.
I checked in at lunch time and Mila answered the phone.
“Hi mama.” She said sounding 3 years old. Don’t they always sound so little on the phone?!
“Hi angel, how are you doing, how’s Dad?”
“He’s good. I made him breakfast in bed. I have you on speaker because I’m making pasta for lunch.” She informed me with confidence.
“Oh ok. Where’s Dad?” I asked.
“Oh, he’s in bed watching TV with Lincoln.” She continued, clearly enjoying full run of the house.
When I got home Liam was in bed.
He hadn’t moved. His beautiful brown eyes were the size of tiny sultanas, slowly drowning in sinus quicksand.
“Oh. Ok. What do you need?” I asked, realising he needed me to take over.
The house was trashed.
Pepe was doing zoomies around the house filled with excitement at my arrival.
I fed the kids, fed the dog, fed Liam the soup, washed the dishes & then we sat down together and watched our new favourite TV show.
Are you ready……
Malcoln In The Middle!!

SO FUNNY!!
The kids love it.
Season 1, episode 1, the scene opens with the Mum shaving a naked Dad in the kitchen while he reads a strategically placed newspaper.
The dad is covered in fuzz from head to toe.
The mum says how it’s such a shame to waste all the hair and maybe they should leave it out for the birds to make their nests. 😂
The kids were rolling on the floor with laughter. 🤣🤣🤣
I never watched Malcolm In The Middle when it was a hit show. I was twenty something & much too grown up for that nonsense.
But now, it is the funniest thing I have seen in ages.
If you have primary aged kids, it’s a must watch!
Night. 😴😴😴
Sorry, no pictures.
Oh, and yep we did a Covid test & it was negative. Good to see the man flu is alive & well!
