Day 95
28th March 2022
Chaos Theory

We had an hour-long appointment this morning. 😬 It could have gone either way, but the kids did really well with that.
Reading, tick!📖 ✅
Afterwards, they dropped me to work and then home to open the Tinker Crate that came in the mail.
Today was Chaos Theory.
Ah, we’re pretty familiar with that one. 😏
They learnt that while a simple pendulum is one of the most regular and predictable things there is, a double pendulum is chaotic and unpredictable.

Ultraviolet Light
Why does ultraviolet light make things glow?
Who knows!
Here’s what they found out.
Ok, so usually when you see an object, you’re seeing the light that it reflects from a light source like the sun or a lamp.
With a florescent object, the glow is not reflected light. It’s made by the object itself.
When the fluorescent material gets hit by the ultraviolet light, its atoms absorb the light and become energised. The atoms release their extra energy as visible light.
The glow!
Watch us re-create chaos theory in action on the link below because apparently, I’m too tired to figure out my video embed issues. I will do this tomorrow!

They also played some more of the card game ‘spit’ and played on the trampoline.
I’m pretty sure they did this whole day in their pyjamas!
Mama’s day tomorrow.
