Day 91

22nd March 2022

Nature Park

I was woken by Lincoln this morning, (a typical start to the day) trying to sneak the laptop so he couuld play computer games.

This was around 5.30am. 😒😴

Some friends were meeting at the park at 9am which was perfect, as that was all I could manage today.

I’ve been feeling a bit flat lately.

Not sure if it was the month of rain, followed by catching Covid or the change of season, or the reoccurring reminder that we most probably aren’t moving to Bali anymore thanks to Covid, but something has me in a funk.

I made the worst dinner tonight.

I don’t even want to tell you about it. I apologised to Liam before he’d even had a mouthful.

Urgh.

So anyway, it was so nice to sit with the gals at the park and chat, while the kids hung out.

What a beautiful group of women. I really loved it.

I didn’t take one photo!! After my feeling cross with Liam yesterday for not taking any pictures, and then today I sat there like a lump, and also didn’t take any pictures.

I went looking for a generic pic of the park online just now and found this!!

Apparently, this is Berry Nature Park in the Northern Territory & I want in!

At one point today, while having a heart to heart, my eyes filled with tears and so did the eyes of my friend and I wanted to hug her so badly but we couldn’t due to me having had Covid recently and her caring for her 91 year old MIL, and it hurt.

It’s so odd to share a moment with someone and feel the urge to reach out but know you can’t. The emotion just sits with you, and kind of goes nowhere.

It just stays with you.

Anyway, after the park we came home for lunch, and I felt like we needed to do some core as we haven’t really done much lately.

Mila sat down with me for handwriting and English & then Math’s.

Mila learnt sentence diagramming & memorised a poem & then we she did Math’s and then I fed her a bowl of ice cream.

It just seemed right.

Lincoln refused to do anything and fell asleep on the sofa.

Too tired for core learning. 😴

In the end, when he woke up, he did do his handwriting and English, but not without drama and fuss.

I knocked it on the head after that & figured Math’s could just fade away.

Tomorrow is Ocean School. Our first day back in weeks and weeks due to the rain and our isolation.

Maybe my funk will end tomorrow.

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
