Day 176

26th August 2022

Flower Power

This little angel face girl just takes my breath away! Sigh.

What a sweetheart. 😍😍😍

As soon as I collected them from the farm, she threw dozens and dozens of flowers into the back seat of the car and begins making a flower chain.

(Needless to say, she made so much mess in the car but that face, I can’t be mad!)

While we were stopped on the mountain, I took this pic of Lincoln.

I LOVE his freckles!

I never really cared for my freckles but seeing them sprinkle across the noses & cheeks of my babies is so beautiful.

Their faces are really starting to change.

Kids grow before your eyes, right?!!

I also took this pic of the view. So pretty.

I didn’t hear too much of the day because Linc had a friend sleep over for the first time and he was buzzing!

“What did you ask for at morning circle? Did you kill the roosters?” I said, doubling down on my questions.

“I said we should make a sacrificial alter and sacrifice the rooster.” Linc says.

(There’s a surplus of roosters on the farm and hey, it’s a farm, what are you gonna to do?)

“How did that go down?” I asked.

“Not good at all!!” Mila bellows from the back.

“Zali, Indi & I said NO!” She said with her eyebrows furrowed.

“How long do we have to wait here? We have to get back because I have a friend coming for a sleep over.” Linc said agitated.

There was a lot more sleep over chat on the drive home.

Mila negotiated a friend over for a play and before I knew it, there were 4 hungry kids sitting down to, yep you guessed it, mama’s famous creamy pasta! 😂

Bedtime was lots of giggling and chatter from the boys, and Mila & I snuggled up in our bed as Liam’s away.

Sports tomorrow and then our house will be a revolving door of neighbourhood kids. 😂

We’ve just bought a big new tent, and the boys are keen to put it up and we’ll probably get a fire going.

So excited for summer!!!

The Challenge: Home school for 1 year while not losing sanity or love for children and/or husband.
Contenders: Mila 8yrs, Lincoln 10 yrs, Me (Mum), Liam (Dad), Pepe (dog)
Home School Days: 200

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
