Day 175
25th August 2022
New Car

You’re probably wondering why you’re looking at a picture of a Stormtrooper helmet?
That’s because, this is exactly what our new car looks like!
I left it to Liam to figure out the new car situation, and this is what he got.
To be fair, it has the highest safety rating you can get so, good job Daddy.
After they came back with the car, I’d just arrived home from work and Liam and I fell onto the sofa.
Liam and I have another cold!
We are just tagging snotty noses lately.
Urgh.
So, the kids went rogue for the rest of the day and we lay there watching Netflix.
Liam was so unwell, he even suffered a reality TV show on fashion design!
Ok, so back to yesterday.
We woke Liam up early, for presents.
We bought him 2 stand up paddle boards!
He was very surprised and loved them right away.
We had just enough time for a family café outing and then Liam went to work.
Pet Therapy
The kids and I took Pepe to the dog park for a run and had our daily dose of pet therapy.
We met the sweetest little Dalmatian called Sally.

And this other little guy that was super cute.

Core Learning
When we got home, I had to really push hard to get them motivated to complete their core work.
They just weren’t feeling it much today.
I told them, when they finished their core, we would take out Dad’s new birthday presents, and just like that, I had their attention again. 😆
So, we smashed out English & Math’s & then Lincoln lead history, while I made toasted sandwiches for lunch.

The Trim
Mila suddenly needed to cut her fringe and she wanted to do it herself!
“Ok.” I said. “I’ll teach you everything I know.” 😬
Which wasn’t much.
I gave her a few pointers from what I’d seen actual hairdressers do, and then she was off.
Mila is so independent. She wants to do EVERYTHING by herself.
She did a pretty good job!
And of course, in true Mila style, she made a hell of a mess. 😩

Bull Jumping

During history today we learnt about the Minoans.
The Minoans lived on the island of Crete.
They were the first civilisation to have a Navy. Their navy was so strong, they were also the first civilisation not to have needed a wall around their city.
They are famous for their bull jumping!
We see it over and over again. On their frescoes & in their statues.
When I was at school, ancient history was my favourite subject.
It was the closest you could get to the movies at school.
We read countless stories about the past.
Fascinating stories!
Sure, you had to remember dates but even that wasn’t too hard.
Anyway, I first learnt about the Minoans at school and so it was really special to share it with the kids.

SUP

As promised, we grabbed the wetsuits and boards and headed out to the bay.
It was the most beautiful day.
The sun was shining down. I even took my jumper off! Not bad for August.
It was a taste of summer! ☀️☀️☀️
The kids were great at figuring out how to put the fins on, attach the pump and get the boards in the water. I really just sat there and took pics. 😂

They had so much fun.
They paddled off toward the horizon and I sat with my book & chilled. (The bass player, Flea’s biography, so good!)
Then they played around together, chased each other, fell off a heap of times, rescued each other and then we went for ice cream.
After an afternoon like that, it would have been rude not to!

If we didn’t have basketball training, we could have stayed here until the sun went down.
Finally, we met Dad for dinner & birthday celebrations.
