Day 103

7th April 2022

Bush Therapy

Liam decided to get the kids out of the house early today.

After they dropped me to work, they went wandering through nature to shake off the mood that’s fallen over us lately.

There was so much water!

Liam said it was running down the stairs like a water feature in a zen garden.

The river is so high & murky with all the rain. Usually, you can see the bottom!

Liam couldn’t help himself – it’s mushroom weather!

Marbling

After the walk they went to art class and today they learnt how to marble.

There’s only a couple of pics because they were still wet when Liam & the kids went to collect them.

I can’t wait to see them tomorrow!

Intellectual & artistic conversations with adult artists as part of home school life learning.
Mila and Ransom. 💗

Clever Daddy.

Mama’s Famous Creamy Pasta!

When they picked me up, Liam looked shattered.

It had been a big day with the kids.

Although, they’d had lots of fun, the kids were still bickering and fighting a lot.

I sent him to rest, and I took over like a champ.

I felt rested from my day at work. (Did I just write that?!)

Linc decided he wanted to make a surprise dinner for Mila.

Nice right?

But then he got mad with the onion because he didn’t chop it small enough for his liking. 🙄

Mila was watching Malcolm in the middle and chuckling away in the background.

Linc brought her over to the stove with his hands over her eyes and revealed the surprise meal.

She was delighted!

We ate dinner & chatted and then I separated them for TV time. (We almost never do this. Usually, we hang together but I’m thinking maybe everyone needs a little alone time, especially with this never ending rain and not being able to get out as much).

The time apart worked a treat. (Mama win!)

Linc watched a Japanese anime and Mila turned on Sing 2 songs and we danced around the loungeroom.

It felt good to have fun and take a break from refereeing.

At bedtime I was covered in kisses from Linc. 💗💗💗

I’m thinking breaking up the schedule to allow more time apart might be a good thing for a while.

It’s cup of tea time for me, and chocolate easter eggs that I have stolen from the stash.

It’s amazing how every year I can fool myself into thinking I’ll only have a few eggs and there will still be enough for Easter, and I definitely won’t have to go out and buy more!

Talking to myself when I realise I have to go back to the shops! Again! 😬

The Challenge: Home school for 1 year while not losing sanity or love for children and/or husband.
Contenders: Mila 8yrs, Lincoln 10 yrs, Me (Mum), Liam (Dad), Pepe (dog)
Home School Days: 200

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
