Day 198

29th September 2022

Chess Club

I slept in today and ran late for work. πŸ™„

I couldn’t help it!

I only had one glass of wine with the girls last night, but I woke up feeling like I’d been on a weeklong bender.

I needed breakfast and hot tea, fast! β˜•πŸ₯žπŸŒ

As I was leaving, Lincy’s mate turned up for a playdate.

When I got home, I found them like this; geeking out on chess. β™ŸοΈ

Linc, patiently waiting to play the winner.

Skate!

Lincoln only knows one speed. πŸ˜†

Dad had taken them skating and they were bushed!

Linc is the best skater!!

He goes flat out the entire session and usually knocks down at least a couple of people. 😬

People see him and get out of his way. πŸ˜‚ Bless that boy!

When we were kids there was a huge skate way in our town. (It just turned into an Aldi last year. 😭)

I have so many fond memories of tearing it up, at the skate way.

The song Popcorn was always played during the speed skate and they always played that Kiss song ‘I was made for loving you’ at some stage.

Oh, and the bird dance.

Buddies since preschool. 😍

So, after the chess games, Mila made some cookies. Well she started making cookies, but decided she wanted to make cookie muffins, which were a delicious & creative endeavour! πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ

Next, my friend came to collect her boy and we sat with tea for a while, and caught up.

Hot Yoga

Ok, so I have this theory.

When you reach your mid 40’s, you can go one of 2 ways.

You maintain fitness and figure, or you put on a couple of kilos each year and become still, with age.

I really want to be active well into my 60’s and 70’s.

I always want to enjoy hiking, skiing, camping, swimming; all of it!

So, I started a ‘buns of steel’ page and invited some friends.

Tonight, was the first class.

I am SO out of shape!!

I sweated my little heart out, in there.

Buns of steel, here I come!πŸ‘Š

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
