Day 192

21st September 2022

Draw

We had another slow morning.

Lincy, jumped into bed first thing for cuddles and then I made pancakes and watched some TV with Mila; a, gymnastics show, that has really bad acting. πŸ™„

Then we took Pepe for a run. Whenever anyone says the word ‘walk’, Pepe raises an ear. If you say walk and also get up off the sofa, he jumps to his feet and starts running around the house and whacking things with his tail.

He ran his little heart out at the park. Wowing the dog owners with his speed.

Afterwards, we went to get new drawing books.

When we got home, all they wanted to do was draw. So, that’s exactly what we did.

Mila’s self-portrait. (Thankfully, no crop top!)
Mila’s pig.
Mila’s cow.
Mila’s goat.
Mila’s possum.
Mila’s pop up drawing.
😍😍😍
Linc’s pig man, monster thing, from Zelda.

When they finished drawing, we did an English lesson. Linc had to edit an article on Brazil and Mila worked on spelling and comprehension.

I tried to move on with maths, but they just wandered outside and started playing soccer.

I didn’t have the energy to pivot and get them back on track. So, they played soccer and I took a tiny nap on the sofa. You know the kind where you’re not really asleep, but not really awake either? I was in that nowhere land. It was so nice.

Um, then Linc came in and I sat up & suggested maths. To my surprise I got a yes!

I was just turning to the lesson, when Mila came out of her room dressed in her gymnastics gear.

“Mum, I’m just going to work on my gym routine.” She said cheerily.

So Linc and I turned on YouTube and got busy figuring out maths questions. I honestly don’t know where we would be without YouTube!

Linc’s so quick. He beats me every time. He doesn’t even use a pencil & working out paper, he just blurts out the answer like Rainman.

He looks at me like I’m a goat! It’s kinda deflating. 😩

Meanwhile, Mila was tumbling in the garden on her birthday beam.

Look at my mulberry tree! It’s grown so much!

In the early afternoon they were mooching around the loungeroom and the light was so pretty on Lincoln, I had to take his picture.

My beautiful boy!

I told Mila to snuggle next to Linc for a picture but she got the giggles and just couldn’t do it. πŸ˜†

Linc lost interest and left, but Mila insisted I take her picture, like I did for Lincoln. There are lots of her laughing, with her eyes closed, (which are so cute) but I did manage to get this one. 😍😍😍

School came out soon after and kids turned up for sport.

We went to watch the basketball grand final and then finished up with a game of spoons, after dinner.

Oh, did I post this yesterday? I can’t remember! But Linc’s soccer team were runners up in grand final and champions in the league. They were awarded with 2 medals. Go Linc!!

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
