Day 171

19th August 2022

Moss

When I left for work this morning, only Lincy was awake.

He put his arms around my neck and kissed my cheek.

The house was quiet and still, and I longed to stay in that moment.

When I got to work, they went looking for sea treasure.

The moss in this picture has grown in just the last week. We were here a few days ago and the moss was nothing like it was today.

It was beautiful!!

Farm Day

I was already at home when they walked in the door.

No Linc, again. 😞

Liam went down to work on one of the motorbikes and Mila had her computer time.

I didn’t get any info on the day until bedtime.

“How was today?” I asked.

“Well, I took two balls to the face. One by Lincoln & one by Big Foot Tom.” Mila declared.

“Oh no. Did it hurt?” I asked.

“No.” She said.

“We played hide and seek in map 1 & I came 3rd.” Lincoln said.

“I hid in about 3 meters of bush, and it was covered in thorns!” He went on.

“We played volleyball & doge ball too. Lots of ball games.” Mila said.

“Oh yeah, we played dodge ball!” Linc said excitedly.

“It stings when you get hit by the ball!” Mila pouted, her eyebrows furrowing.

“Yeh I know, it hurts! I never liked dodge ball when I was a kid.” I confessed.

“Oh, the girls & I made a butter cake with Jadie!” Mila said smiling again.

“I had two pieces of cake, because I took some from home.” Lincy smiled.

“I forgot my cake mama.” Mila said with her head hung low.

“You still had cake though.” I said.

“I only had my noodles.” She went on.

Dodgeball

More pyrotechnics from Big Foot Tom. I’ll have to find out the story tomorrow.

Who knows, what he’s talking about here. 😆

It’s the weekend!

Yay!!

We have a big weekend of sport ahead.

Netball, soccer, basketball and friends over for dinner. x

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
