Day 166
12th August 2022
Farm Day!

When I was a new mum and in the thick of baby land, a mother with older kids once said to me;
“For the first 5 years you’re a lifesaver. All you do is keep them alive all day. Stop them from rolling down the stairs & choking on small bits of food etc. Then, for the next 5 years you’re a referee. All you do is break up fights between yours kids, all day long. Then finally, you end up a taxi driver. All you do is drive them to and from sports, playdates, & work.”
Well, we are officially launching into taxi driver mode!
When Liam arrived home from farm day, he was down a kid.
“Where’s Linc?” I asked.
“He’s gone to a friends’ place.” He answered before running a bath from pure exhaustion. (It’s tough spending a week at the snow!๐)
I turned around and Mila was heading out the door.
“Bye mum.” She called.
“Oh ok. Bye Mila.” I barely got out, before the door closed mid-sentence. ๐คจ
Lately, I’m always in the car either dropping them off or collecting them.
It’s not a bad thing. It’s just something I’m noticing more and more.
Sigh.
So, it wasn’t until bedtime that I heard all about the day.
“How was the farm?” I asked.
“Oh it was great. We played combat frisbee.” Lincoln answered clutching on to his hot water bottle.
“Then we played volleyball for like 2 hours!” He continued.
“Yeh, we played volleyball, and Madeline and I won!” Mila cheered.
“It was just us two, against Austin & Lincoln.” She went on.
“We smashed them!”
“Cool! You beat your big bro.” I teased.
“Lincoln played really well though.” She reported proudly.
“And we played hide & seek in map one, and I won!” Linc declared.
“Awesome! Where did you hide?” I asked.
“I hid in some thick bushes, with lots of moss on the wood.” He replied.
“Actually, I came second. Eli won. He was in such a deep hiding place. No one came to get him and so after a long time he, went back to base camp and we were all there having lunch.” He said matter-of-factly. ๐
Poor Eli!
“Did he give up his spot?” I asked laughing.
“No, he didn’t tell us.” Linc said looking serious.
“Zali has a new bunny.” Mila said, her eyes glistening.
“His name is Winter. He’s white with blue eyes!” She said.
“Oh, and we went to the magic circle.” Lincoln interjected.
“We were all there arguing about what game to play, and then a wild Mila came charging out of the bush holding a bone and going, [makes very loud dying moose sound], and trying to kill us!” He went on.
“Yeh, we played Bogan Wars.” Mila declared proudly.
“What on earth is that?” I asked, a little nervous to hear the answer.
“Oh, its when you run around going [makes very loud dying moose sound] and throwing a bone thingy, and if I get someone they have to join my team and help me catch the rest.” She said so proudly of her game.
“Right.” I said.
“It was so fun. We played it for 2 hours!” Linc said.
Not long after our little catch up. They were sound asleep.
Oh, and Liam’s home!!!! ๐๐๐๐๐
