Day 147

24th June 2022

Roller Girl!

It’s 9.39pm and I’ve just sat down to write.

It’s been a crazy day of work, shopping, errands, cooking and getting ready for our girl’s roller-skate party tomorrow.

So exciting!!

She has her outfit all ready & laid out on her bed. 😍😍😍

Every year I have the bakery make me a slab of butter cake and then we cut it up & decorate it.

This year, she asked for a roller-skate.

We had so much fun icing it.

Behold, the skate! 😂

Even the ‘scrap’ cake gets iced.

Farm School

Today was their farm day.

Here’s what I found out.

“We went to the Magic O!” Linc said.

“What’s the Magic O?” I asked intrigued.

“Oh, it’s this place, it has a cargo net and a slack line.” He replied.

“We did some more on our secret base, but I’m not telling you where, because the girls haven’t found it yet.” He boasted.

“There was a new girl today, her name was Dakota.” Mila said.

“She’s 13 and she joined our girl club.” Mila went on.

“We all have moosey names.” She was so excited.

“I’m Moosey Moose and there’s Choco Moose, Coco Moose, Mini Moose & Zali is Chicken Moose.” She said laughing.

“We played cops & robbers. I was a robber.” Linc said.

“And we played foam sword fights.” He went on.

“We played stomps in the round yard.” Mila said.

“Oh yeh, stomps!” Lincoln joined in.

“You aren’t allowed to have shoes on, though.” Mila said.

They tried to explain it to me, but I lost track.

“I forgot my bag with my lunch.” Linc confessed.

“I know, I saw it here on the table when I came home. You must have been hungry.” I said.

“No, Big Foot Tom gave me an apple and Frances gave me 2 hot dogs.” He replied.

“We made damper too, mama.” Mila said.

“What did you have on it?” I asked.

“We made it on the sticks again and we filled it with butter and honey.” She said with a cheeky smile.

“We did a garlic challenge, and I ate a clove of raw garlic!” Lincoln boasted.

“Ew!!” I said feeling a little nauseous.

“It was so spicy!” He continued.

“Did anyone else eat it? What did you win for eating the raw garlic?” I had so many questions!

“Yeh, there were 3 others. We didn’t win anything; it was just for the challenge.” He said proudly.

Sorry, no farm pics today.

Everyone was too busy having fun to stop.

Time for sleep. x 😴😴😴

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
