Day 144
21st June 2022
The Brain

When you’re a home schooler, appointments are an everyday part of life.
When they were losing their minds in the bank yesterday, I didn’t tell them that I had a specialist appointment, an hour’s drive away, the very next day!
I softened the blow by telling them this morning, during their computer time.
They hung between two worlds, computer world & the “Wait, what did she just say?” world.
It wasn’t too bad in the end, as I promised we’d do something fun afterwards.
We went to my neurologist appointment (my brain is tip top btw, phew!), and while we waited we read the many posters around the room, and learnt a bit about the brain.
We all agreed the eyeballs hanging out of the brain poster was a bit ew, and we couldn’t look at that poster for too long.
Retail Therapy

Mila still had more birthday money to spend and so we wandered around the shops which was much more exciting than the shops we have at home.
After looking at everything, she bought a puzzle and then we headed to Smiggles.

And then Lincoln saw a toy he had, that was once special.
Before Pepe got to it and ate it’s eye, and kept stealing it from Linc’s room.
His wolf beanie boo!

I had to get it down for him.

Lincoln found a digital Rubiks Cube.
I mean, really? Digital?
And he found 4 x 4’s and 5 x 5’s.
Being a master at the 3 x 3, he wondered how much harder they would be to solve. 🤔

Next was the Smiggles store & then I promised them whatever they wanted for lunch.
I suggested this awesome vegetarian noodle place that we all love but no, we went the full junk food route. 😩
Mila got Subway (chicken & cheese, no salad) and Lincoln got a double cheeseburger, nuggets and fries. 😧
I put my foot down at soda!
That’s water in those large cups. (Very small, mama win).

Oh, and every time we go to the city, the kids’ go bananas over the escalator.
It’s always so very obvious, they’re country kids.
They wait until the very last minute before getting off, which freaks out the people behind.
They crawl up like a bear. They try to ride the handrail. They walk in the opposite direction.
All the while laughing and calling out to each other.
I pretend I don’t know them and wait up the top.
Today was no different.

Flip Out

After lunch they asked about the ‘fun thing’ we were going to do and they suggested Flip Out.
It’s on the way home, so sure why not.
I said yes.
They both loved the Ninja Warrior course and went through it a dozen times.
My battery died, so I don’t have one picture to share!!
Usually, Flip Out looks like this.

But when you’re a home schooler, it looks like this.

Toddlers have their own area, so it really is free for you and your friends to use exclusively. 😎
They ran, flipped & bounced their little hearts out, until our time was up.
Now they are sound asleep & totally unaware that tomorrow at 8.30am, they’ll be at the dentist. 😬 🦷
