Day 125

Sunrays

The sun was shining this morning!

At 9am we were at the oval.

We haven’t been that early in a long time. Shortly after taking this picture 6 or 7 dogs turned up at once like an organised dog party.

Pepe ran his heart out!

It was so good to feel the sun on our backs.

While walking around the track we decided we should spend the morning baking and have a special morning tea.

It was exactly what we needed after yesterday’s emotional day.

Pepe till needs his muzzle when off lead. I really need to book him in for his greenhound test.

Gingerbread

When we got home Pepe went to bed for the rest of the day & Mila got to work with her little Gingerbread maker.

It’s been a while, but she hasn’t lost it. They were so delicious!

Today is day 3 with the striped top. As soon as she fell asleep, I grabbed it and threw it in the wash!

Cinnamon Scrolls

Lincoln wanted to make cinnamon scrolls.

I set them up on different benches and went to make a phone call.

(Yes, they did get into an argument over flour 🙄 but it was resolved quickly & we moved on).

We put on a pot of tea and settled down for our warm bakery treats.

I thought it was the perfect time to sneak in some learning, while I had them captive, and content. 😎

Silverchair

When I was in high school, during English, I remembered discussing the lyrics to Midnight Oil’s song, ‘Blue Sky Mine’.

Who knows why I remember it, I’m not an Oilers fan, but it’s always stuck with me.

So, I decided to read out lyrics to Silverchairs’ song ‘Tomorrow’. (Love that song!)

At first Mila said she didn’t know what it was about!

But as we went line by line, they both agreed it was about a wealthy person not in touch with world problems & other people & that one day, he won’t be ‘living like a king’.

Daniel John’s was only 13 or 14 when he wrote this. My brain was nowhere near this mature at that age!

We moved on to Eminem’s ‘Loose Yourself’.

They loved the lyrics to this song, and the order of the rhyme and the beat.

Everything!

Right away they knew what the song was about.

It was such a nice teatime and I felt satisfied we’d ticked off English without even realising it. 😎

Indus Valley Citadel

Next, we snuggled on the sofa and I read the next chapter of our World History book.

Today we learnt about citadels.

We learnt that these cities were planned, unlike other ancient civilisations. They were built on a grid pattern, had plumbing, common bath houses and the citadels were believed to be a sort of government building.

Bath Bomb

Mila picked up our science experiment book next and went to make bath bombs.

She made 3. 😂

She said she wanted it to look like tie-dye.

Peanut Butter Spinner

We finished our Mark Rober engineering course by building a peanut butter spinner.

I didn’t have any space left on my phone to take a video but here it is in full motion, spinning and mixing the oil with the crushed nuts.

Pizza Oven

Next, we were hungry, and decided we needed a pizza oven!

We went to YouTube (how did we live before this platform?!!) and found a simple build that gave us a lot of confidence.

We fell in love with the simplicity of this little oven and that we could make it ourselves without any help!

We didn’t need bricks as we already had some small pavers.

All we needed were the large concrete pavers for the base & top of the oven.

We hit the shops and then began building in the back yard, however, it began raining and we couldn’t finish it.😩

After school, friends came over and we cooked pizzas in the oven.

Tomorrow, we will have a pizza oven!
