Day 102

6th April 2022

Water Cycle

This morning at Ocean School we talked about the water cycle.

What makes rain?

We sat around and our divers read a book on how this it all works.

They each took turns reading aloud from the book. It’s very sweet.

Neutral Buoyancy

Next, we spoke about weight belts and why we use them.

The weight belt is to counter act against the air in our lungs and the buoyancy of our wetsuit.

The test is to start with just one weight, (for kids) then go into the water just over your head and do a big sigh and let out half of your breath.

If the weight is right, you should sink just below the water and stay there. This is neutral buoyancy.

If you sink like a stone, you need to take off some weights! 😂

They suited up and headed into the sea to try it out.

It was another rainy day, but the water was warm and the beach still felt like a nice place to be.

Mila didn’t want to swim today, so she looked for Port Jackson shark eggs on the beach and opened every one.

No sharks. 😒

Follow the light!

Mila looks so fair in this picture.
Mila found a crab!

It was too rainy for a play in the park today, so we dried off and came home.

Emotions were still running high today. The kids have been so tired and just fighting with each other constantly. It’s flat out exhausting, to be honest.

I decided Ocean School was the only learning we were going to do today!

I made lunch and set them up in separate rooms to watch TV. For the rest of the day if they wanted!

Just stop fighting!

I did a little bit of work on the laptop and then later I dragged them out one more time to run a few errands.

I made a killer chickpea curry for dinner and there’s enough leftovers for tomorrow!

One more week to go and then holidays.

I think we’ll start early!

The Challenge: Home school for 1 year while not losing sanity or love for children and/or husband.
Contenders: Mila 8yrs, Lincoln 10 yrs, Me (Mum), Liam (Dad), Pepe (dog)
Home School Days: 200

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
