Day 88

17th March 2022

WANTED!

We started with art again today.

Following on from Ned Kelly, I asked them to design their own Wanted Poster. I told them when they were finished, we could age the paper with coffee.

Then I went and had a shower for work and Liam took over. Apparently, Dad ages paper with a tea bag and Lincoln wasn’t impressed.

I’d post a picture, but I think they left them outside to dry. This is all I have on my camera.

Lincoln’s hand is covered in paint because they did some more hydro dipping yesterday and Dad didn’t think anyone needed gloves.

Car Engine

After art and a little Australian history Liam took them downstairs to the garage to show them how a combustion engine works and how fuses regulate currents. 🤷‍♀️

First, they watched this cool video that explained the process and then they went to check it out.

After they came up stairs, Liam fed them lunch and put on a movie.

He came in to where I was working and passed out.

Far out, this Covid flu just sends waves of sleep at you every few hours. 😴

The kids watched Wall-E. The message in this movie is that humans make and use too much ‘stuff’ and we can’t keep going on or else the planet will become destroyed.

Today was my first full day concentrating on my laptop. It was hard.

I’m so tired now.

Sorry these posts have been a bit dull. I’m so tired at the end of the day.

I sometimes think of Julie from the movie Julie & Julia and wonder how on earth she cooked every night. Writing can be tough some nights but at least there’s no cleaning up!!

Have I said this already? 🤔

She must have been so tired. All those dishes, every night!

Um, ok.

So, we’ve been watching a tonne of TV while in lockdown, want some recommendations?

Last night we watched ‘Last Breath’ on Netflix. It’s great. And terrifying!

I found myself taking big gulps of air every now and then.

We also liked this Cassey Affleck movie called ‘Every Breath You take’.

Ok.

I gotta lay down and hang out with Liam.

Farm school tomorrow.

We are all excited to finally be out of lockdown!!

The Challenge: Home school for 1 year while not losing sanity or love for children and/or husband.
Contenders: Mila 8yrs, Lincoln 10 yrs, Me (Mum), Liam (Dad), Pepe (dog)
Home School Days: 200

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
