Day 73

24th February 2022

Captain Rex

Phase 2, Captain Rex – Clone Wars Series

He finished it!

Lincoln is SO PROUD of this helmet. 😍😍😍

I had to make him take it off to eat dinner. He was trying to fit his spoon under the helmet and slopping food everywhere. 😂

This afternoon he said,

“What is life, without craft?!”

Mila finished her apple too!

They have already chosen their next projects. Mila’s going to make a horse head from her favourite show Spirit, and Lincoln’s begun a new helmet. He’s very impressed that he doesn’t need a template for this one.

He’s gone rogue!

Hydro Dipping

It’s official.

Liam is the cool parent. 😂

Hydro dipping is when you spray colours onto water and then slowly dip the product into the water. The paint wraps around the product and sticks.

Lincoln did his mouse and Dad’s phone cover, and Mila dipped her sewing box. 🙂

Liam said they LOVED it.

They used a clean laundry tub, and not an old bucket in the shed. Hmmmm 🤨

I mean, it is pretty cool.

English/Maths

They spent the afternoon doing English & math’s.

Liam is the math’s teacher. He has a natural math’s brain.

He’s so good at it! I love coming home from work and hearing them tell me what they learnt.

They’re learning so much. One on one learning is the best!

English & cuddles! (Note the unicorn teddy also on the sofa. It’s become the Where’s Wally in our world).
Mila’s working on a story called ‘Fox Girl’.
Charging through math’s.

Sleep

I slept like a log last night. 😴

I felt so much better when I woke up, and then felt crappy for being so cranky yesterday. 😔

I should have taken them to the movies and fallen asleep in the dark over airconditioned cinema. I could have taken a blanket. Mila usually makes me. Then I could have slept it off. Tired, grouchy mama. ☹️

Anyway, they gave me lots of cuddles this afternoon and were so excited to show me their finished projects.

Tomorrow, farm day!!

Liam is going to spend the day at the farm and do some forging.

The kids are beyond excited!

The Challenge: Home school for 1 year while not losing sanity or love for children and/or husband.
Contenders: Mila 8yrs, Lincoln 10 yrs, Me (Mum), Liam (Dad), Pepe (dog)
Home School Days: 200

This blog was inspired by the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep & Amy Adams.

Julie decides she will take her love of cooking to the next level by cooking every recipe in Julia Childs French cookbook, in one year! 500 & something fancy, technical recipes!! While working full time!

Julie writes a daily blog about her time in the kitchen for herself & other amateur cooks who may, or may not be, reading along. You gotta watch it (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/about/).  Or read it here. (http://thehomeschoolyear.com/book)

I loved that she wrote every day. I loved hearing about her small everyday frustrations, with the recipes & with life. It really inspired me to throw myself into something.

The timing was perfect as we have just decided to homeschool our children as a lifestyle choice and I thought…Cool! A daily blog will be perfect!

There must be other families out there wondering if there’s another way to live? Another way to do ‘family life’?

If you’re here, then hello & welcome aboard! Please feel free to sit back & watch it all unfold. Put the kettle on & check in with us each night to see what went down and how we all got over the line. I’m sure we’ll find our rhythm, right?

Are you a homeschool family? If you’re watching the wheels fall off this thing, I’m open to your emails or comments any time. I would love them! I am very friendly, & I could use the help.

Ok, come hell or high water….I’m in. A daily blog, for 12 months. I’ll be right, here.

Kindly, Lisa x

Can we be friends?!
