Day 25
8th November 2021
Dad’s Experiment
Today’s Liam’s day.
And I’m trying to be cool, loving & a supportive wife.
Remember I said that.
Dad has this great idea to let the kids eat whatever they want, for a week!!
“Ah, ok.” I said, nervously.
“And,” he went on, “I’m giving them $20 each to spend on whatever they want.”
“$20! Whatever they want?!” 😲
“Whatever they want.” He said, proudly.

“Ok, sure why not. Sounds fun.” I lied. 😨
Let’s Take A Pause
We are a health-conscious family.
Most mornings our kids start the day with what they call “Mama’s Super Smoothie”.

We cook from scratch.
We try to eat as many whole foods as we can.
Yes, they have ice cream on the weekend or hot chips sometimes, but mostly, we try to eat well.
So, you can imagine how berserk they went, when Dad told them this plan.
They day started off with snickers for breakfast! (A treat from Dad to kickstart the day). 🙄

Followed by noodles. 🤦♀️

Kayaking
Thankfully, after that they went kayaking down at the creek.
They saw dozens of water dragons, but forgot the camera.

After that they hit the café & yep, they had iced chai lattes with bucket loads of cream.

Oh, my goodness, then they went to spend more money!

They came home for a while and played some video games, and then after that Lincoln went for a skate and Mila stayed home.
After dinner,
they wanted to go the shops again!!!
And I wasn’t allowed to say no!
So, I drove them to Woolworths and they spent more money. (I’m pretty sure they only have a few dollars left now).

They wasted no time in getting started.

Slumber Party
They hijacked Dad’s bath who got out and said, “I’m going to bed, I’m really tired” 😱😱
And left me to it.
The kids decided they would have a slumber party in Lincolns room, and they made up a bed for Mila.
I told them they had to put themselves to bed, and it was lights out at 8pm.
They took their stash into Linc’s room, and it was giggle, giggle, giggle for the next hour. (It was pretty cute).
At one point they ran out and said,
“We’re drunk driving!!” and fell over each other laughing.
Then Mila said, (and no, it wasn’t her finest utterance,)
“I’m going to spew!”
I told them time was up.
Time for teeth brushing and lights out, and you know what?
I haven’t heard a peep out of them.
Did they die of sugar?
Chemical intake?
Maybe happiness? 😂
I better go and check on them…
When I walked in, they both smiled up at me.
For now, they are tucked up in bed.
We planned to ask them at the end of each day, how they were feeling.
How their tummy felt, how their head felt & how their mood was.
Dad thought, (& I admit, I did agree & think it was an interesting experiment) if they go crazy with the food, they will realise that junk food doesn’t make them feel good, and they would (maybe) not want to eat it all the time & constantly ask us for treats!
So I asked them, “Kids, how do you feel now you’ve eaten all of that junk?”
“Like the best day ever!!“
Hmmmm.
They’ll feel terrible tomorrow.
Right?
